Welcome to Goxhill

Welcome to Goxhill Village and this site, which will link you up with some of the organizations and groups that reside here.

It is not intended to be a comprehensive guide to what is in the village but it should give you an idea about some of the things that are going on and who to contact if you would like to know more.

Do not neglect to look at the Links page. Whilst it primarily collects together the links from elsewhere on this site, it also contains links to other websites belonging to Goxhill clubs and groups. If you would like your Goxhill club included then please contact us with details.

Any constructive comments about this website, or suggestions for other things that you would like to see included, would be very welcome. Simply email goxhill@tesco.net

Goxhill Bowling Club has a special deal for new bowlers

It is often said that there is no such thing as a free lunch and that the one sure thing in life is that you never get owt for nowt.
But there are two outstanding and genuinely free offers this year from Goxhill Bowling Club for those interested in trying the sport.

Take a look at the club's web page on this site to find out more.

Perhaps you will discover bowling is a skill that you never knew you had. Certanly it provides an opportunity to make new friends. It is only through new memberships that local clubs can continue to thrive.

There are players travelling to the club from Barton, Barnetby and South Ferriby because of the quality of Goxhill's facilities. So do not ignore these facilities when they are right on your doorstep - find out what they know that you do not.

Take a fresh look at Goxhill Library

If you check the entry on the central library catalogue for any one of the books residing at Goxhill Library you will find that it is now classified as “Community Adult Fiction” or “Community Junior Fiction”. That is because, since the beginning of April, our village’s library has been run as the first Community library in North Lincolnshire – under the management of the Parish Council.

So what does this all mean? Well the key difference is that the library is now staffed by a small team of unpaid volunteers – keen readers and bibliophiles who believe in the value of a local library as a resource for the children and adults of Goxhill. We do not do all the work as there is now a self-service machine that takes care of most of the logging in and out of books. But we are ensuring that the library is open, organized and available for you and we will gladly assist anyone who is unfamiliar with or has problems using the self-service system. We still have the same facilities for using the Internet and are happy to help you find the books and information that you are looking for.

At present Goxhill Library is following the same opening times as when it was run directly by North Lincolnshire Library Service:
• Mondays from 3.30pm until 7pm
• Wednesdays from 2pm until 5pm
• Fridays from 3.30pm until 7pm

However, we are all keen to see that, as far as practical, the library is available when people most want to use it. So if different days or times would help you to use the library, please let us know. Obviously it will depend upon volunteers being able to cover those times on a consistent basis but we will try our best.

Similarly, if you have any suggestions or constructive comments about the library, or would like to become a volunteer, then please let us know. You can call in whenever we are open and talk to whoever is on duty. Alternatively you can email us at goxhilllibrary@yahoo.co.uk  (yes, there really are 3 Ls in the middle of the address) should that suit you better. Whichever means you choose, please provide us with a way of contacting you in case we need to clarify anything that you have told us.

Whether you are a regular or occasional library user, and especially if you have never tried it before, please pay us a visit. You cannot miss us; we are still in the Parish Rooms on Howe Lane. It may be a first Community Library to the rest of North Lincolnshire but for those of us who know and love books, it is still simply Goxhill Library – please make it your library too.
